What is RTG
RTG is a software component that can retarget most of the Amiga screens
including Workbench to the PC Graphics card. This allows the Amiga with WB3.0+
to have access to very high resolution and Flicker free displays and 256 colours
or higher.
It can in many cases be faster than AGA on a high frequency screen except
when high bitmap data is being transferred, (however we are working on this). In
some areas the host PC card with RTG can outperform the Amiga graphics cards
also. Using the RTG system you can run PC type AVI (Audio Interleaved) Video
files within the Amiga display area using the PC as the slave engine.
Future upgrades include full OpenGL acceleration using the PC graphics card
with low cost but high speed 3D accelerator chips. This is something that the
Amiga will unlikely get any other way.
